April
The soil is prepared for new vines
Productive vineyards:
This month, the tying of vine canes is completed.
In April, checks on the architecture of vineyards and replacement of any damaged poles, training stakes and wires continue.
If necessary, weeds in the vine rows are removed. A physicochemical analysis of the soil is carried out in order to
evaluate whether it is necessary to add any nutrient substances to improve production.
New vineyards:
Soil preparation before planting new vines continues.
After earth clods have been crumbled by the winter frost, previously ploughed soils are ripped
to open them up and increase water drainage.
Afterwards, stones and cut primary roots which have come to the surface after work done on the soil are removed.
Soil preparation is completed by using a harrow to make the surface completely
level and ready for the new vines to be planted.
Finaly, the soil is analized to decide which fertilization treatments are necessary.
