Valpolicella, September 20th, 2019
The new harvest began in the second half of September, quite late if compared to previous years:
2019 will be a vintage remembered for the awareness of how climate changes affect the wine supply chain: the spring was very fresh, in May it rained a lot and then the summer was very hot, thus slowing down the vegetative cycle.
A warm September with cool nights was providential for the picking of grapes of good quality. The meticulouse care of the vineyards and the temperature excursions of these days have allowed an accumulation of color and a good acidity that make hope for a high quality level of the grapes. We are optimistic in expecting an important vintage, with long-lived wines, rich in substance and color: the dream of every winemaker!
The grapes look like healthy and sparse, therefore particularly suitable for the drying of Amarone. Limited production compared to 2018.
