“Albasini” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2016 vintage of Villa Spinosa, reaches for the sixth consecutive time the prestigious “Tre Bicchieri”, historic Gambero Rosso award born more than 30 years ago, a reference in the wine and consumer panorama that represents one of the highest awards for Italian wine.
The first Tre Bicchieri from Villa Spinosa arrived in 2016 for “Jago”, the Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore Doc 2011. Subsequently all the vintages of “Albasini” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG presented, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015 up to the current winner, the 2016, received the Tre Bicchieri.
Villa Spinosa cultivates 20 hectares of vineyards and has a winemaking and aging cellar between Negrar di Valpolicella and Marano di Valpolicella. The company's winemaking philosophy is based on a style faithful to the tradition and typicality of Valpolicella, values which today are an asset and are pursued and appreciated by wine critics.
“The result obtained is exciting: this Amarone is awarded for the sixth consecutive time, a sign of consistency achieved and the authorization to represent Amarone della Valpolicella in the world. It gratifies us, but it presents us with a fascinating and stimulating challenge: in the coming years we must also be able to enhance the other wines that complete the fame of Valpolicella".
“Amarone is the most representative wine of Valpolicella” adds Enrico, “and Albasini is our most traditional expression: it stands out for its finesse, elegance and rigorous character. It is dedicated to our Albasini ancestors who in the nineteenth century began cultivating the land in Figàri, a cru overlooking the Marano di Valpolicella valley".
The company today is strongly committed to two values: attention to respect for the environment which leads us to move in a targeted way in every choice, eliminating weeding from the vineyard, practicing grass cover, reducing the use of pesticides, reducing the use of water and energy used during the production process, choosing increasingly lighter bottles and enhancing the culture-wine relationship that has always characterized Villa Spinosa.
The book “Villa Spinosa. My window on Valpolicella” written by Enrico Cascella Spinosa to tell fifty years of life and work to build Villa Spinosa, but also to help people understand Valpolicella, its evolutions and think about the future.
For all enthusiasts, it will be possible to taste the award-winning wine in the Enoteca in Tinaia, the Wine Shop of Villa Spinosa, in Borgo di Jago in Negrar di Valpolicella (via Jago dall'Ora, 14), where this year we will also propose a new tasting dedicated to the Amarone Tre Bicchieri, a truly special way to experience the evolution of the 2008 - 2010 - 2011 - 2013 - 2015 - 2016 vintages of this great and award-winning wine.
