FIVE NEW 300 LITRE BARRELS ARRIVED

FIVE NEW BARRELS OF SLOVENIAN OAK FOR THE WINE AGING

Valpolicella, March 10th, 2017

The works of exstension of the Villa Spinosa’s cellars goes onuninterruptedly:
five new barrels of 300 liters from the Venetian cooperage Garbellotto are just arrived.
The new barrels are made from fine-grained Slovenian oak, characterized by a light-medium toasting
in order to ensure a soft and gentle transfer of aromas during the wine aging.
During the aging in the barrel, the wine experiences chemical reactions taking place very slowly.
They are very important to stabilize the color, to soften the tannins and to enhance the flavors of the wine.
The new barrels have the traditional colors of Villa Spinosa, that means that the front edge is red,
with a strong visual impact, while the 'circles' holding the staves are black and enhance the shape of the barrel.
Well, red refers to our young Amarone, the natural color of the wood suggests the traditional Amarone
while black evokes the 'Guglielmi of Jago' produced in the best vintages
to exalt the Amarone with a long aging just in oak barrels.
